The Wackness

ComedyDramaRomance99 min

In 1990s New York, a teenage pot dealer gets by selling to classmates and neighbors until he starts trading weed for therapy sessions with a psychiatrist who is nearly as lost as he is. What begins as an odd arrangement turns into a messy friendship, with the doctor pulling him into adult chaos even as the teenager is trying to figure out love, sex, and what comes after high school. As summer closes in, his home life frays, his crush feels increasingly out of reach, and the line between guidance and bad influence keeps disappearing. Josh Peck and Ben Kingsley anchor a coming-of-age story set in a city that feels both wide open and closing in.
