Jiro Dreams of Sushi
Documentary82 min
Jiro Ono is an 85-year-old sushi master still chasing perfection at Sukiyabashi Jiro, his 10-seat restaurant tucked inside a Tokyo subway station. The documentary follows his exacting routine—selecting fish, training apprentices, and shaping each piece at the counter—while opening out to the work and discipline behind a Michelin-starred kitchen. Alongside him is Jiro’s eldest son, Yoshikazu Ono, the heir apparent who has spent years trying to meet his father’s standards while living in his shadow. Tokyo’s markets, prep rooms, and quiet family conversations fill in the world around a chef who never stops refining his craft.
