Maggie Gilkeson is a rancher and single mother in 1885 New Mexico Territory whose teenage daughter is taken by a band of Apache kidnappers. Cate Blanchett is Maggie, forced to ride out with the one man she doesn’t trust: her estranged father, Samuel, with Tommy Lee Jones giving the old frontier drifter a hard, lived-in presence. As they track Lily across rough country and race the trail toward the Mexican border, the rescue becomes a bitter family reckoning, with years of anger and abandonment riding alongside the pursuit. Ron Howard directs a western built around pursuit, distance, and a broken father-daughter bond.
