A documentary crew follows Cody Maverick, a young penguin from Antarctica, as he heads to his first Penguin World Surfing Championship and a chance to live up to the legend of his idol, Big Z. Shia LaBeouf is Cody, an ambitious newcomer chasing respect as much as trophies, while Jeff Bridges voices the laid-back local who knocks his plans off course. Framed like a surf documentary, the film mixes interview cutaways, handheld-style camerawork, and sideline commentary with a sports story about rivalry, image, and what Cody thinks winning is supposed to look like.
