The Lady from Shanghai

CrimeDramaMysteryThriller87 min

A drifting sailor takes a job aboard a wealthy man’s yacht after a chance encounter with the man’s wife, and the arrangement quickly knots itself into murder, suspicion, and a courtroom fight. Rita Hayworth is the glamorous woman at the center of the trouble, while Orson Welles is the drifter who finds himself caught between her and a corrupt tycoon with his own designs. Moving from New York to the sealed-off world of a pleasure cruise, the film keeps shifting under its characters’ feet as flirtation, money, and betrayal become harder to separate.
