The Great Hack

Documentary114 min

As the Cambridge Analytica scandal breaks, this documentary traces how Facebook data was harvested and used in political campaigns from Brexit to the 2016 U.S. presidential election. Former insider Brittany Kaiser becomes one of the film’s central figures, while professor David Carroll tries to find out what information was taken from him and where it went. Journalists, whistleblowers, lawmakers, and company executives—including Christopher Wylie and Carole Cadwalladr—help map the machinery behind targeted messaging, voter profiling, and a tech industry scandal that spilled from private data into public hearings and global politics.
