Admiral Frank Beardsley returns to New London to command the Coast Guard Academy just as an old romance reenters his life. Dennis Quaid is Frank, a widower raising eight children by the book; Rene Russo’s Helen North is a widowed handbag designer whose ten kids live by very different rules. After the high school sweethearts reunite and marry, their households are forced under one roof, where salutes, schedules, hugs, and chaos collide. With 18 children split into rival camps, the Beardsley-North clan quickly turns the new marriage into a battle at home.
