The Pelican Brief

CrimeDramaMysteryThriller141 min

After two Supreme Court justices are killed, law student Darby Shaw writes a theory linking the deaths and suddenly finds herself at the center of a widening conspiracy. Julia Roberts is Darby, whose speculative brief draws the attention of killers and Washington power brokers, while Denzel Washington’s reporter Gray Grantham sees a story stretching from the courts to corporate and political influence. Alan J. Pakula moves the action through newsrooms, law offices, and back-channel government corridors, keeping the focus on a young woman whose research puts her in the path of people determined to bury it.
