After a failed climate-engineering experiment freezes the planet, the last survivors circle the globe aboard a train divided by class. Chris Evans is Curtis, a passenger from the cramped tail section who joins John Hurt's Gilliam in a revolt that pushes car by car toward the engine. Bong Joon Ho builds the train as a closed world of rigid hierarchy, with each compartment revealing a different layer of privilege and control. Tilda Swinton looms over that order as Mason, an official devoted to keeping everyone in their place.
