Rachel Getting Married
DramaRomance114 min
Anne Hathaway is Kym, a young woman who returns from rehab to her family’s Connecticut home for her sister’s wedding after years of upheaval. What should be a packed weekend of rehearsal dinners, speeches and ceremony keeps circling back to old wounds, especially between Kym and Rosemarie DeWitt’s Rachel, the bride trying to keep the celebration on track. Bill Irwin and Debra Winger are the parents at the center of the strain, as relatives and friends fill the house with music, conversation and barely contained friction. Jonathan Demme frames the wedding weekend as both family gathering and emotional reckoning.
