Novelist Hank Moody is a self-loathing, alcoholic writer in Los Angeles, trying to repair things with the mother of his child and their daughter while he keeps feeding his own worst habits. David Duchovny is Hank, a sharp-tongued author whose writer’s block, sex addiction, and mounting drug problem turn every attempt at stability into another mess. Natascha McElhone’s Karen stays at the center of the life he can’t quite let go of, even as he keeps blowing past good judgment. The series tracks Hank’s collisions with family, work, and temptation in a Southern California world of publishing, celebrity, and constant bad decisions.
