After losing his bid for re-election to the state legislature, Blake Washburn returns home convinced that manufacturer MacFarland cost him the race. He takes over his uncle’s newspaper and turns the Herald into a campaign against big business, using the small-town paper to shape public opinion and rebuild his standing. Jeffrey Lynn leads the cast alongside Marjorie Reynolds, with Marilyn Monroe appearing early in her screen career. When tragedy hits close to home, Blake is pushed to look again at the fight he has been waging in print.
