The Darkness

Facing forced early retirement, DI Hulda Hermannsdóttir is given one last chance to work a case, and she chooses the one that has been left to gather dust: the murder of a young Russian asylum seeker found dead a year earlier. What begins as a stalled investigation quickly points to missed leads and questions no one seems eager to reopen. As Hulda pushes back through old interviews and buried evidence, the case widens beyond a single victim and into the systems that failed her. The closer Hulda gets to the truth, the more resistance she meets from colleagues and institutions that would rather let the past stay closed.
