James Mitchum is Jim, a Montana rancher who heads to Los Angeles after his sister Betsy (Cathy Lee Crosby) leaves the family cattle ranch chasing fame in Hollywood. What begins as a family search turns dangerous when Jim finds her tangled up in a criminal underworld of drugs and prostitution. The film moves from wide-open ranch country to 1970s Hollywood and city streets, following an outsider who brings his backcountry instincts into a world of scams, vice, and violence.
