Benjamin Franklin Gates has spent his life chasing a treasure said to have been hidden during the Revolutionary War by George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin. Nicolas Cage is Gates, a historian whose latest clues point to a map concealed on the back of the Declaration of Independence. With archivist Abigail Chase and sidekick Riley Poole drawn into the search, he follows ciphers and riddles from crypts and churches to New York City. Sean Bean's Ian Howe is after the same prize, turning the hunt into a race to find the treasure before one of America's most guarded documents falls into the wrong hands.
