Former police officer Brian O'Conner takes a deal in Miami: infiltrate import-export boss Carter Verone by driving a shipment of dirty money in exchange for a chance to clear his record. Paul Walker is Brian, teamed with Tyrese Gibson's Roman Pearce, a childhood friend and ex-con who knows the streets as well as the cars. Working alongside undercover agent Monica Fuentes, they enter Verone's orbit through the city's street-racing scene, where custom imports, cash runs, and shifting alliances keep the operation moving. Miami's bright neon backdrop gives the sequel a sunnier, flashier look while the job turns on who is using whom.
