Home from college, Jeffrey Beaumont finds a severed ear in a field and starts asking questions that tear through the tidy surface of his small town. Kyle MacLachlan is Jeffrey, an amateur investigator whose search draws in the police detective’s daughter, Sandy, and leads him to Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini), a nightclub singer trapped in a violent criminal world. Written and directed by David Lynch, the film moves from manicured lawns and family homes to shadowy apartments and late-night clubs, with Frank Booth looming at the center of the danger.
