Ghost World

ComedyDrama111 min

Fresh out of high school, Enid (Thora Birch) and her best friend Rebecca spend their days mocking the bland adult world closing in around them. A prank response to a lonely-hearts ad brings them into the orbit of Seymour, an awkward middle-aged record collector, and Enid’s interest in him starts to pull the two friends apart. Scarlett Johansson gives Rebecca a cooler, more practical streak as she and Enid begin moving toward different versions of adulthood. The film follows that uneasy post-graduation stretch through dead-end jobs, bad apartments, thrift-store style, and Seymour’s world of old records and private obsessions.
