In a near-future Japan where cybernetic bodies and networked minds are part of daily life, Public Security Section 9 handles crimes that spill across computers, politics, and the street. Major Motoko Kusanagi leads the unit as it tracks hackers, terrorists, corporate conspiracies, and cases where the line between human and machine keeps breaking down. Some investigations stand alone; others circle back to the Laughing Man, a mysterious figure whose actions expose corruption at the highest levels. As Section 9 follows digital traces and hidden agendas, each case pushes the team deeper into a world where information can be altered, stolen, or weaponized before anyone knows what is real.
