Alex Hesse (Arnold Schwarzenegger), a reserved research scientist, agrees to become the test subject for an experimental fertility drug he developed with his colleague Larry (Danny DeVito). What begins as a tightly controlled medical trial turns into an unprecedented pregnancy, with Alex assuming he’ll only carry the embryo briefly and then finding the situation growing far more complicated. Emma Thompson’s Diana, another scientist in their orbit, adds a romantic thread as the film mixes laboratory ambition, medical secrecy, and mounting media attention with the comic fallout of a man navigating pregnancy.
