Fletch

ComedyCrimeMystery98 min

Working undercover in Los Angeles, newspaper reporter Irwin "Fletch" Fletcher lives on the beach, chases drug leads, and keeps changing identities to get people talking. Then a wealthy stranger approaches him with a bizarre offer: kill him for a large fee because he says he is dying. Fletch takes the meeting as a lead, not a job, and starts pulling at the story from every angle. What looks like a private arrangement opens onto missing records, shifting alibis, and people who want him to stop asking questions. Chevy Chase plays the investigation with a deadpan, wisecracking style as Fletch bluffs his way deeper into a scheme that keeps refusing to add up.
