Beating his tin drum and answering chaos with a piercing scream, Oskar moves through family upheaval, street spectacle, and the violence gathering across the 1930s and 1940s. Mario Adorf and Angela Winkler are among the adults in Oskar’s orbit in Volker Schlöndorff’s adaptation of Günter Grass’s novel, where childhood stubbornness, political madness, and surreal imagery collide.
