Guermantes
ComedyDramaRomance139 min
In Paris during the summer of 2020, actors from the Comédie-Française rehearse Christophe Honoré’s stage adaptation of Proust’s The Guermantes Way when the production is abruptly canceled. Rather than abandon it, the company decides to keep working, turning the rehearsal process into a film about performers trying to hold on to art, routine, and one another. Claude Mathieu and Anne Kessler are among the ensemble as Honoré follows backstage conversations, rehearsals, and the shifting line between the actors’ daily lives and the roles they’re preparing to inhabit.
