Being John Malkovich

ComedyDramaFantasy113 min

Unsuccessful puppeteer Craig discovers a hidden portal at work that drops anyone who crawls through it into the mind of actor John Malkovich for 15 minutes before ejecting them onto the side of the New Jersey Turnpike. John Cusack is Craig, whose bizarre find quickly stops feeling like a private secret and starts drawing in the people around him, including characters embodied by Catherine Keener and Cameron Diaz. With Malkovich appearing as a heightened version of himself, Spike Jonze’s 1999 film turns office drudgery, performance, and identity into something strange, deadpan, and increasingly invasive.
