Roger Cobb is a divorced horror novelist who moves into his late aunt’s mansion after his young son vanishes, hoping the house will give him room to write and a way to face what he’s been avoiding. William Katt’s Roger is already carrying Vietnam war trauma and a collapsing personal life before the place starts answering back with monsters, tricks, and rooms that won’t stay put. George Wendt turns up as the well-meaning next-door neighbor, one of the few ordinary figures in a story that folds suburban domesticity into supernatural attacks and the lingering damage Roger brought home with him.
