The Party
ComedyDrama71 min
Janet (Kristin Scott Thomas) gathers a few close friends at her London home to celebrate a political promotion, but the night quickly fractures as buried tensions and personal announcements upend the occasion. Her husband Bill, Timothy Spall’s withdrawn academic, seems detached from the party from the start, and each new arrival brings another problem into the room. What begins with champagne and congratulations turns into a chain of confessions, arguments, and cracks in the group’s politics, marriages, and self-image. Shot in black and white, the film keeps the focus inside the house as an intimate gathering tips into open crisis.
