Galaxy Quest

ActionAdventureComedySci-Fi102 min

Twenty years after their cult TV space opera was canceled, the cast of Galaxy Quest are still making convention appearances when a desperate alien race mistakes the old broadcasts for historical records and beams them aboard a real spaceship. Tim Allen is the swaggering former commander suddenly expected to lead an actual rescue mission, while Sigourney Weaver’s former lieutenant is stuck reliving a role famous for repeating the ship’s computer. Alan Rickman is the classically trained co-star buried under alien makeup, and Sam Rockwell shows up as a nervous extra who knows exactly what usually happens to unnamed crewmen. It riffs on Star Trek-style adventure, fandom, and behind-the-scenes ego.
