Secretariat

DramaFamily123 min

When her father falls ill, housewife Penny Chenery takes over the family’s Virginia horse farm despite knowing little about racing. Diane Lane is Penny, juggling home life and a stubborn, male-dominated sport as she backs a gifted colt named Secretariat. At her side is veteran trainer Lucien Laurin, with John Malkovich giving the track old-timer a prickly, offbeat presence. The film follows Meadow Stables from shaky finances to the national racing spotlight in the early 1970s, weaving the business of breeding, training, and campaigning a racehorse into Penny’s fight to be taken seriously.
