After D-Day fails in this alternate 1944 Britain, a remote Welsh border village wakes to find every husband gone, having slipped into the mountains to join the Resistance. Andrea Riseborough is Sarah Lewis, one of the women left to keep the farms running as the German advance closes in. When a German patrol led by Albrecht (Tom Wlaschiha) enters the valley, the village’s isolation gives way to occupation, uncertainty, and the daily calculations of survival. The war stays mostly at the edges, centered instead on the women waiting for news and trying to hold their community together under a new order.
