Cabrini
Drama145 min
In 1889 New York City, Italian immigrant Francesca Cabrini arrives to find disease, crime, and children crowded into the city’s poorest streets. Cristiana Dell’Anna is Cabrini, working through poor health and broken English as she confronts sexism, anti-Italian hostility, and a resistant city government in her push for housing and medical care. As she takes her case to the mayor and other gatekeepers, the film follows how faith, discipline, and an entrepreneurial streak help her begin building institutions for people the city has left behind.
