Devdas
DramaMusicalRomance185 min
In early-20th-century Bengal, Devdas returns from London expecting to marry his childhood love, Paro, and resume the bond they never outgrew. Instead, his wealthy family refuses the match, turning affection into humiliation and pushing the two lovers onto separate paths. As Paro is drawn into another life, Devdas spirals into drink and self-destruction, unable to break from the loss or the pride that helped cause it. Seeking escape, he finds a fragile kind of refuge with the courtesan Chandramukhi. Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Madhuri Dixit anchor a tragic romance in which longing, family status, and wounded ego keep deepening the damage.
