As scholarship offers and talent scouts crowd in, Anthony Michael Hall’s Johnny has to decide between a bigger football future and staying close to home with his girlfriend at the local state college. Robert Downey Jr. shows up as Johnny’s fast-talking friend, and Paul Gleason is one of the grown-ups adding to the pressure. The recruiting frenzy turns one teenager’s college decision into a swirl of promises, attention, and competing agendas.
