Ricki and the Flash

ComedyDrama101 min

Meryl Streep is Ricki Rendazzo, a working musician who chose rock-and-roll dreams over family life and, years later, is pulled back home for a chance to make amends. Returning to people who have built their lives without her, Ricki has to face old resentments, unfinished relationships, and the gap between who she was onstage and who she was at home. Kevin Kline appears among the family waiting for her return, with Mamie Gummer in the middle of the reckoning. Jonathan Demme’s film mixes backstage club energy with a strained family reunion, weaving live performances into Ricki’s attempt to reconnect.
