Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

ComedyDramaMusicalRomanceWestern103 min

In 1850 Oregon, a frontier farmer brings a new wife back to the mountain farm he shares with his six brothers, and she discovers she has married into a household of unruly bachelors. Howard Keel is the self-assured eldest brother, while Jane Powell's new bride takes on the work of feeding, cleaning, and civilizing the clan. When the brothers decide they want wives of their own, courtship on the frontier turns into a string of songs and athletic dance numbers, with chopping wood and a barn-raising folded into the action.
