Shaolin Girl

ActionAdventureComedyFantasy107 min

After years of Shaolin training, a young woman returns to Japan to reopen her grandfather’s long-defunct martial arts school. Ko Shibasaki is the disciplined fighter at the center, bringing temple-honed skills to a story that shifts from dojo revival to an offbeat collision of kung fu and women’s lacrosse. Flashbacks thread through the plot, and the action leans into broad comedy and fantasy touches rather than straight martial-arts drama. Hong Kong screen regulars Kai-Man Tin and Tze-Chung Lam appear alongside a largely Japanese ensemble as her attempt to restore the school pulls in a very different kind of team.
