The Hurt Locker

DramaThrillerWar131 min

Newly assigned to a U.S. Army bomb disposal unit in Iraq, Sgt. William James approaches every explosive with a calm that looks a lot like recklessness. Jeremy Renner is James, whose habit of ignoring protocol unsettles Anthony Mackie’s Sgt. Sanborn and puts strain on a team already working under constant threat from roadside bombs, car bombs, and unseen snipers. Kathryn Bigelow’s film stays close to the squad’s day-to-day routines in the desert, where each callout turns a city street into a trap and every decision can split loyalty from survival.
