In a room beneath his house in 1980s Brisbane, young Eli Bell answers a red telephone as danger closes in around his family. Felix Cameron is Eli, a working-class kid whose childhood is shaped by the harsh pull of the city's criminal underworld and his determination to save his mother. Phoebe Tonkin and Travis Fimmel are among the adults at the center of that turmoil, while Simon Baker and Bryan Brown circle the edges of Eli's world. The series threads suburban family life, coming-of-age drama, and crime-story tension through Eli's view of a city that keeps getting darker.
