Robert Pattinson is Monte, a convict drifting through deep space with his infant daughter after the rest of their ship’s crew has vanished. As he keeps the vessel running and cares for the child, the mission comes into view in fragments: death-row inmates sent toward a black hole, cut off from Earth and drawn into the ship doctor’s experiments. Juliette Binoche is that doctor, a commanding presence whose motives remain hard to read. Moving between Monte’s present-day routine and the crew’s final days, the story centers on the mystery of what happened aboard the ship.
