In a post-apocalyptic future, Sean Connery is Zed, a killer raised among the Brutals who slips past the giant stone idol his people worship and reaches the hidden world of the Eternals, immortals guarding the remnants of human knowledge. Inside that secluded enclave, Charlotte Rampling's Consuella is among the residents forced to reckon with an outsider shaped by violence and questions about the order they preserve. The film imagines its far-future society through ruined landscapes, ritual, and surreal 1970s science-fantasy imagery.
