In a dusty California desert town, a shy young woman takes a job at a spa for the elderly and latches onto her chatty co-worker, Millie, copying her manners, routines, and way of moving through the world. Their friendship deepens when they become roommates, but the bond turns uneasy as imitation shades into obsession and the line between dependence and rivalry starts to blur. Around them, a pregnant artist and bar owner, played by Janice Rule, watches from the edges, her eerie murals and troubled marriage adding to the sense that something is slipping out of place. As identities begin to shift, everyday life grows stranger and harder to name.
