In the 28th century, special operatives Valerian and Laureline are sent to Alpha, an ever-expanding city where species from across the universe have converged to share knowledge, intelligence, and culture. Dane DeHaan is Valerian, partnered with Cara Delevingne's Laureline as the two investigate a dark force threatening the peace at the heart of the metropolis. Working under orders from the Minister of Defense, they move through a sprawling interspecies hub built over centuries of contact between civilizations, trying to identify the menace before it reaches beyond the City of a Thousand Planets.
