Robin Williams is Leslie Zevo, a playful inventor at his late father’s toy factory, where imagination has long run the place. That world changes when the business falls under the control of his uncle Leland (Michael Gambon), a stern general who starts turning the factory toward weapons disguised as children’s toys. As Leslie tries to push back, the film moves through cavernous workshops, elaborate toy rooms, and a strange family orbit that includes Joan Cusack and Robin Wright. Barry Levinson frames it as a bright, off-kilter fantasy with military menace edging into the factory’s whimsy.
