A Taxi Driver
ActionAdventureDrama138 min
May 1980: Song Kang-ho is Man-seob, a Seoul taxi driver scraping by while raising his young daughter alone. A lucrative fare puts Thomas Kretschmann alongside him as a German journalist headed for Gwangju, and Man-seob takes the job without knowing why the trip matters. As they enter a city cut off by the military government, with students and residents pushing back in the streets, the drive becomes entangled with the Gwangju Uprising. The film moves from cramped cabs and roadside checkpoints to a wider portrait of a country in the middle of a political rupture.
