Maurice

DramaRomance140 min

James Wilby is Maurice Hall, a young man in Edwardian England whose first romance at Cambridge leaves him struggling to accept his sexuality in a culture built on silence and convention. Hugh Grant’s Clive offers intimacy and intellectual freedom, then retreats into the safety of what society expects, sending Maurice toward doctors, secrecy, and a harsher reckoning with himself. When Alec (Rupert Graves) enters his life, the story widens beyond college rooms and drawing rooms into a forbidden relationship shaped by class, desire, and the pressures of respectability.
