After mushroom clouds appear over major U.S. cities, the small town of Jericho, Kansas is cut off from the outside world and left to guess what is left of the country. As power, phones, and supply lines fail, the town scrambles to ration food, keep order, and defend itself against threats moving in from beyond its borders. Old grudges, family ties, and local politics turn every decision into a fight over who gets protected and who gets left out. At the center is a drifter who returns home just before the attack, as Jake Green and his family are pulled into the struggle to hold the town together while the mystery of what happened beyond Jericho keeps closing in.
