An aging Chinese mother, lonely after her son has grown up, gets an unexpected second chance at parenthood when one of her freshly made dumplings comes to life as a giggling little boy. The story stays close to the kitchen and family table, turning cooking and caretaking into a domestic fantasy about holding on and letting go. Sindy Lau voices the mother, with Sharmaine Yeoh among the family voices, in a largely wordless film built around gestures, meals, and the shifting bond between parent and child.
