Going the Distance

ComedyDramaRomance103 min

A summer hookup in New York turns serious for Erin and Garrett just as she heads back to San Francisco to finish her journalism degree and he stays behind in the city, working in the music business. Drew Barrymore is Erin, whose wry directness cuts through the usual rom-com polish, while Justin Long’s Garrett tries to keep pace with webcams, texts, phone sex, and frequent-flyer miles. Around them, his friends Box and Dan (Jason Sudeikis and Charlie Day) treat the whole arrangement with a mix of loyalty and skepticism. As reunion plans start to take shape, career breaks on both coasts threaten to keep them apart.
