American Gangster

CrimeDrama157 min

During the Vietnam War, Frank Lucas builds a heroin empire in Harlem by bringing product into the U.S. on returning military planes, turning a driver from North Carolina into one of New York’s most powerful crime figures. Denzel Washington is Lucas, controlled and calculating, while Russell Crowe’s Newark detective Richie Roberts leads the task force trying to trace the money and cut through police corruption. Ridley Scott frames the story across nightclubs, family tables, and city streets as Lucas’s operation expands and Roberts closes in on the man behind it.
