Bobby Dorfman leaves New York for 1930s Hollywood, hoping his uncle can help him find a place in the film business. Jesse Eisenberg is Bobby, an eager newcomer who falls for Vonnie, his uncle’s secretary, while Steve Carell’s influential agent uncle ushers him into a world of studio offices, parties, and polished power. When Bobby’s life carries him back east, the pull of old feelings follows him into New York’s nightclub scene and upper-crust social circles. Romance, family connections, and ambition overlap as the story moves between Hollywood glamour and Manhattan nightlife.
