Angela Bassett is Brenda, a Chicago single mother trying to keep her three kids steady when a sudden layoff and a letter about the father she never knew send her south to Georgia. What starts as a funeral turns into an introduction to the Browns, a sprawling family of outspoken relatives, old grievances, and unexpected warmth, including Leroy (David Mann). As Brenda gets pulled into small-town routines and family history, she also finds the possibility of a fresh start. Tyler Perry writes and directs.
